Who Sold in 2023? Estates and Downsizers

Spoiler Alert:

Estates, Rentals, and into Apartments

Sellers this year have been a little different from the past. For one, there were fewer. Some reasons for this is because everyone that wanted to move in the past 5 years has done so already. But of course, there is always someone thats outgrowing their home and ready for the next steps.

In 2023, the majority of the homes I sold were estates. Either someone had passed and their loved ones were liquidating the estate, or mom/dad were in a facility and needed the funds to support their care. They no longer needed to live their and were liquidating their assets. A few were landlords ready to let go of their investments and a couple were simply ready to move on to a different chapter in their lives.

Whatever the situation, selling your home can be difficult. All of the ones that that came on the market in my world were emotional and represented a turn of the times. There are nuances there, things that are not standard when listing, so I’ve learned quiet a bit.

If you have questions as to how to get ready to let go of a home, represent someone you love as they ask for your help selling, or generally need to know what kind of paperwork you need to have ready, I’m here to ask.
